CORPORATE HISTORY
Mountain View was founded in 1986, dedicated to providing better distribution
and transportation services to the forest products industry. That year
we secured our first contract and established one of many, long-term
relationships with a major BC lumber producer.
From
the original reload operation at Chilliwack, BC,
our facilities have continued to grow, and in 1989, we opened the Abbotsford,
BC reload/distribution division which also serves as the Mountain
View Group corporate head office.
Our Abbotsford operation is strategically located 1/2 mile north of
Sumas, WA giving this facility great access to the North American market
for outbound lumber shipments as well as inbound hardwood lumber, specialty/exotic
plywoods and panel products for local distribution.
In 1991, Mountain View expanded again, launching our New
Westminster division, handling truck/rail and loading containers
for export overseas. In 1996, we outgrew this facility and moved to
the current site on Annacis Island which includes over 80,000 sq. ft.
of covered warehouse space and 5 acres of paved outside storage.
Our
fourth operation, at Mt. Lehman, just west
of Abbotsford, BC was started in 1996 and serves as a local distribution
centre for lumber wholesalers in the greater Vancouver area.
As well in 1996, a new division was also created, Apex
Terminals Inc., a 20 acre site, on Annacis Island to handle the
exclusive needs of our strategic partner. This site handles all of their
overseas export containers, local distribution and rail loading of stock
from several mill locations destined to North American markets. In 1999,
due to increasing volumes and an opportunity to further expand Apex
Terminals, we relocated to the south shore of the Fraser River on a
larger site. The new site provides the operation in excess of 170,000
sq. ft. of covered storage. .
